As excitement intensifies over the creation of our third season, you may find yourself wondering, "Who are these new Namaste Yoga instructors, anyway?" It is our honour to introduce them to you! In this installment, we chat with the joyous and playful, Cam Lee. "I'm still a little stunned and absolutely filled with so much gratitude to be part of Namaste," Cam Lee explains. "It was the little seedling that started my practice."

Like so many of our community members, Cam was channel surfing when she discovered Namaste Yoga. She watched the program a few times before deciding to give it a try. Instantly hooked, Cam wanted to try more. "I'd always been curious about yoga, but didn't know quite what to expect, and there weren't many classes being offered," Cam shares. "I was in awe over the beauty in the way [the instructors] moved."

The Basics

Personal Motto: "Don't fear the unknown."

Favorite Food: "Tea, oranges, chocolate, avocados... and yes, sometimes all at once!"

Favorite Yoga Pose: "Balasana (Child's Pose), a pose that I always go to and find my breath."

Favorite Yoga Style: "Vinyasa, connecting breath and movement."

Cam's "ah-ha" yoga moment came after a climbing accident left her with a broken leg. Her eagerness to get out of her cast and jump back into her normal activities was met with the realization that a long rehabilitation process was ahead. While Cam diligently followed the recommendations of her doctor and physiotherapist, her progress was unbearably slow.

"I began to grow restless and frustrated," Cam shares. "I became so uneasy that I decided to go to a yoga class and do whatever I could do... knowing that I would probably be sitting for most of the class." Cam was surprised to find she was able to do more than she had anticipated.

"I was standing and able to put weight on my foot, and after leaving class, I took the first few steps I had taken in months. When I just let go of wanting to walk, I was able to take steps towards it. With class, I was able to develop a deeper connection with yoga and all the benefits it has to offer."

Cam says that the knowledge she gained from her experience allows her to better appreciate the "ah-ha" moments of her fellow yogis. "I'm always filled with joy and re-inspired by someone finding their moment with yoga."

Off-the-Mat Fun: "More yoga. Yoga is the best off the mat! This leaves room for some fun and creativity. Eat, laugh, play and embrace every moment life gives you. Eat, laugh, play and bask in Mother Nature, sunshine, Mother Earth and fresh air."

On-the-Mat Crazy: "On set in Savasana. Yes, Savasana. After filming for a few hours in a glacier-fed lake, my toes were ready to be reunited with some fuzzy socks and I was dreaming of a warm cup of tea. As I got all excited to jump out of the lake, I hear them yell, 'last pose, Savasana.' I instantly laughed and it took me a little before I realized they were serious. So, there I was trying to do Savasana... breathing and trying not to look like I was convulsing. Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely beautiful, and I'm very excited to see how the shots turned out!"
